Why Officers Think You’re Committing DUI

drunk

drunkYour driving skills may not be the best, but without care and attention, you might find yourself under the suspicion of DUI or DWI.

If you have been pulled over by the cops repeatedly, even without alcohol intake or intoxication, then it is best to look at the possible things you’re doing wrong. It is unfortunate that officers do not have the privilege of seeing you as a responsible adult and have no alcoholic drinks prior to your drive. If you were to have drinks before driving then it is important that you know when you are considered officially “Driving While Impaired” or “Driving Under the Influence” by the law.

Going Too Slow

While it is responsible of you to not go as fast as the other drivers, going below the speed limit by 10mph is already suspicious. Officers will think you are trying very hard to stay in your lane by driving slow.

In the case of being accused of DWI, you are not actually required to do any field sobriety tests. But an officer can pull you over and arrest you. The first thing you should do in this case is to contact a DWI lawyer for your defense.

Making Wide U-Turns

Once a driver seems to be making a too wide U-turn, the officers’ suspicions grow stronger. Swinging out too much when making a U-turn makes it easier to maneuver when not sober, therefore, enforcers would think that you are definitely intoxicated.

Looking Drunk

Now that we’ve covered some basic driving technicalities, you should also know that your posture while driving says a lot. Cops flag down drivers who seem to be slouching to one side or hugging the wheel. Obviously, these postures make you look like you are DWI/DUI.

Improve your driving skills and reduce the chances of you getting pulled over. If in case you were arrested, the first thing to do is to call a lawyer to sort it out.
